A weekly boss reward resets on the wrong day or lets a player collect twice
Co-op games often let a character beat each boss for rewards once a week. The reset day is easy to get wrong, and a kill just before the reset must not block the fight just after it. Here is how to count weeks so every player agrees when a new one starts.
Why this works
A week is just a whole number counted from a fixed starting point, and the weekday you want is only an offset from that point. Storing the number of the week of the kill, rather than a date, lets a lock end exactly at the reset without any timer to run.
When not to use it
Skip it when players should be able to try a boss as often as they like, such as a practice fight, or when rewards are tied to progress instead of time. Then a lockout only frustrates, and a daily or per-run limit may suit better.
