Two friends take turns defeating each other to farm experience
In games where players fight players, a pair can trade kills for rewards all night. Punishing one player's repeated kills misses the trick, because the two simply take turns. Here is a way to spot the pair and shrink the reward gradually without hurting honest rivalries.
Why this works
Farming works because repetition costs nothing. If a reward depends on how often this same pair has met lately, repeating fades away while new opponents stay worth full pay, and the memory covers only a recent stretch, so it forgives itself.
When not to use it
Skip it when the game has no reward for beating other players, or when duels between friends are the point, as in a friendly arena. Then a shrinking prize insults honest rivals. Remove the reward for player kills instead of policing it.
