Can players buy and sell in a circle between traders and get rich from nothing?

With many traders and items, a profitable circle is easy to create by accident and hard to spot by eye. This entry shows how to search your price lists for one, including loops of three or more steps, and what a tax does to it.

Why this works

Money appears from nothing when going around a circle of trades leaves you with more than you began with. Multiplying the rates along the way shows that, and a small fee on every trade is what makes such circles stop paying.

When not to use it

Skip it when prices move freely with players' own offers, because a loop then closes by itself as people use it. Watch the market for it instead, and keep this check for fixed shop prices.
