Deaths of players who walked away from the game ruin your difficulty numbers
A character left standing in a dangerous place dies without the player noticing, and those deaths and idle hours pollute every rate you compute. This entry shows how to separate them out and what rate is left.
Why this works
A character that nobody steers is not playing, so its hours and deaths say nothing about difficulty. Judging by the last real input keeps both the time and the deaths of an empty chair out of every rate.
When not to use it
Skip it when waiting without input is part of play, such as long fishing, cooking or watching a story scene, unless you raise the limit to fit. Otherwise you will wrongly cut honest play and its deaths.
