What does a crafted item really cost in raw materials, with batches and leftovers?
Recipes that produce several pieces at once and need other crafted parts hide their true price, and the number on the wiki page is usually wrong by a wide margin. This entry shows how to work out both the average and the honest cost for one piece.
Why this works
Crafting makes whole batches, and the leftovers can feed a later step. So the price per piece depends on whether you look at the long-run average or at one player making a single item, and each answers a different question.
When not to use it
Skip it when players can buy the parts, trade leftovers or craft in bulk anyway, since the single-piece view is then rarely lived. Use the average and price the parts at the market.
