Spielerando

Was the tester even looking at the monster when the scare went off?

A scare that fires behind the player's back, or at the edge of the screen, often looks like a failure in the results. This entry checks where each tester was looking, handles the tricky case of turning past a full circle, and tells whether the scare was seen.

Why this works

A scare only works if the eye can meet it, and the direction a person faces wraps around like a clock. Comparing the two directions the short way round, not by plain subtraction, tells you honestly whether the thing was in sight.

When not to use it

It does not help when the scare is meant for the ear, or happens right at the screen edge so fast that facing does not matter. Judge those by sound or reaction. Nor does it cover looking up or down.
