Do testers read faster and faster as the story goes on?
A story that loses a reader does not announce it. This entry turns the speed at which text is clicked through into one clear signal for a whole session: slowing down, steady, or hurrying, and shows how one long break can fake a trend.
Why this works
Reading speed follows interest and effort. If it climbs through a session, people are skimming because they care less. If it falls, the text is harder or they are tired. A trend over the whole session beats any single scene.
When not to use it
A rise at the end can be wanted, when people already know the ending, and different scenes simply have different text. Don't read a trend where the first and last scenes differ in kind. Compare similar scenes only.
