Spielerando

The player carrying the story item leaves: does the group recover or give up?

If one player holds something the story needs and then leaves, the others may be stuck. Looking only at groups that went on hides the ones that quit. This entry shows how to count all three outcomes honestly and how long the recovery took.

Why this works

Groups that carry on tell a cheerful story, and those that gave up tell none. To see the damage, count every ending of such a moment, and keep unknown cases apart so a recent one is not mistaken for a failure.

When not to use it

It does not apply when no one person ever holds something the story needs, because it is shared or kept safe by the game. If so, the fix is a design choice, and no counting is needed before you do it.
