How many kills until almost every player has the rare drop, and until the full set?
An average of fifty kills sounds fine until you learn that one player in five needs far more, and that a set of several rare pieces takes much longer than adding up the pieces. This entry shows how to work out the real wait for the unlucky and for collectors.
Why this works
Luck is spread unevenly: a fixed chance per kill means some players finish early and a few finish very late. The angry posts come from that late group, so you plan for the share you want to serve, not for the middle of the crowd.
When not to use it
Skip it when the drop is not left to chance at all, such as a reward bought with a currency or earned by a fixed task. There the wait is known, and you simply set the price or the task.
