Which fight makes players turn the difficulty down?

Most players never say they find a fight too hard; they quietly change a setting. This entry shows how to find the fights that trigger the change by comparing each against the rest, and how many deaths it usually takes before they give in.

Why this works

Silence is not satisfaction. A switch to an easier setting is a vote, and tying it to the fight just before shows where players give up, while comparing each fight with the rest keeps one harsh early stretch from drowning out the others.

When not to use it

Skip it when the game has no difficulty setting, or when the challenge is the whole promise, as in a game proud of being brutal. There, a hard fight is not a fault, so watch where players quit for good.
