Is every chapter about as long for everyone, or does one drag on for some players?
An average chapter length hides that half the players finish in twenty minutes and a few need three hours. This entry shows how to measure the spread so the chapters that trap some players stand out.
Why this works
A typical time hides the people who differ from it. Looking at the middle half and at the slow end shows whether players take very different routes or whether some get stuck, which an average cannot, since a few long cases bend it.
When not to use it
Not useful with few finished players, or where length is up to the player on purpose, like open exploration. And if many quit in that chapter, those who finished are a biased group: look at where people quit first.
