Keep a crafting or smelting bar moving smoothly when updates arrive rarely

When the game only reports progress a few times a second, the bar steps and stutters, and guessing ahead can make it run past the real value or slide backwards. Here is how to fill the gaps so it looks continuous and still tells the truth.

Why this works

A guess is only safe if it is short and gets corrected. Learning the pace from the last two reports lets the bar keep moving between them, a limit stops it running on if news is late, and it never steps back, so it stays honest.

When not to use it

Skip it when the real progress is jumpy or can pause and drop, such as a task that waits for materials. A smooth bar would promise something untrue there; show the true value, or a plain busy sign.
