Spielerando

Each player's game reports a different winner: whose result do you trust?

When every device reports the result of the same match on its own, the reports can disagree because of lag, a bug or someone cheating. This entry shows how to settle the result by comparing reports and how to flag matches that cannot be settled.

Why this works

When nobody holds the truth, agreement is the best evidence available. One report is a claim, several reports that match are a comparison, and a strict majority gives a result you can use. Anything without a clear majority is said so openly instead of guessed.

When not to use it

A majority is good for statistics, not for prizes: a team can agree on a lie together. Wherever a result gives real rewards or rankings, let a server that you control decide instead of the players' devices. With very few reports, you can only say that the result is not known.
