Gold piles up in the game, but is everybody richer or just a few players?
The average balance can rise sharply because a handful of players hoard, while the typical player has not gained anything. This entry shows the three figures that together tell whether prices should change.
Why this works
An average is pulled by a few huge piles, so it can rise while the typical player gains nothing. Putting the middle value, the average and the richest few percent side by side shows whether prices need to change for everyone or whether only the top is drifting away.
When not to use it
It does not apply to games without a shared currency or where gold cannot be saved. At launch most wallets are empty and the middle is zero, so wait for real play. And rising gold alone is not a fault: if the typical player is still short, prices may be right and the pile needs no fix.
