Write each hero's ending so it fits what happened to their friends
In the closing scene one hero grieves for a friend who fell, another waits for one who left early, and two who fell together are mentioned together. Here is how to choose one ending line per hero from the fates and bonds of the whole party, without contradictions.
Why this works
An ending feels true when it answers to the people the hero cared about. Reading ties in both directions, and ranking the most painful loss first, gives each hero a line that fits the whole group and cannot contradict a friend's.
When not to use it
Skip it when heroes are strangers with no ties, or when the ending is one shared scene for all. Then a single closing line for the group is clearer than a pile of separate, loosely linked ones.
