Play a banter between two companions once, in either order

Two travelling companions have a scene together, but it fires twice because the pair is listed the other way round, or it fires again on every campfire. Here is how to key a pair so it counts once, and how to space the next one out.

Why this works

A conversation belongs to two people, so it must be filed under both, in a way that does not care who is named first. Remembering what has been said and when the pair last spoke keeps talk fresh without the party falling silent or chattering.

When not to use it

Skip it when the talk is a story scene that must play at a set moment, or when the party is so large that pairs hardly ever meet twice. A fixed trigger or a simple random pick is simpler there.
