Let players decorate a house without walling themselves in
A player who may put a wardrobe anywhere will, sooner or later, put it in front of the door or cut the room in two. Here is a check that looks at the room after each placement and refuses the ones that leave a corner unreachable, saying how much would be cut off.
Why this works
A room is only a home if you can still get around in it. Testing the room as it would be after the move, and not as it is now, stops a piece before it traps the player or hides a corner nobody can reach.
When not to use it
Skip it when the player may climb over things, fly or teleport, or when blocking a room is part of the joke or the puzzle. Also skip it where furniture is only wall decoration and never stands on the floor.
