Draw borders between realms with a named zone where both have a claim

A sharp line halfway between two capitals makes the stronger realm look weak and gives no room for a border war. Here is how to let strength pull the line toward the weaker side, mark the cells too close to call, and keep the result the same however the cells are visited.

Why this works

Real borders sit where one power's reach runs out, so the stronger side pushes the line toward the weaker. Where two powers are nearly equal, neither wins clearly, and that doubt is the contested ground players expect to fight over.

When not to use it

Skip it when borders follow rivers, mountains or old treaties rather than strength. Then the land itself draws the line, and a strength formula would cut across it. Trace the real feature and add the doubtful strip by hand.
