Players are removed for being away when they were only watching a cutscene
A game that removes idle players needs more than a stopwatch. Watching a story scene, waiting after death or sitting in a menu is not being away. This entry shows a warning first, the moments that should not count, and how the clock restarts afterwards.
Why this works
Not touching the controls only means someone is away when you would expect them to be touching them. Looking only at the right moments, and giving a clear warning that any input cancels, keeps absent players out without punishing watchers.
When not to use it
Wrong for games that are slow or meant for watching, like a relaxed building game or a story where long pauses are normal, and for private games with friends. There, a kick only annoys, so skip it or just show who is away.
