Fixing problems

Learning paths through this topic

I built a power plant but some houses stay dark and I cannot see why

A plant somewhere on the map does not help a house that is not connected to it, and a connected plant can still be too small. This entry gives your AI a checker that names each dark house and the reason, so it fixes the line or the plant.

My AI says the nerf worked because the win rate dropped from 62 to 55 percent

A drop in win rate after a change can be real or just the luck of a few games. This entry gives your AI a quick test that says whether the difference is believable, and how many more games it would take to be sure.

The game gets slower the bigger my city gets and I need to know how bad it will be

Some slowdowns grow gently and some explode. This entry gives your AI a way to measure a few city sizes, work out which kind of growth you have, and say how slow the game will be at ten times the size, before you build it.

My generated map has start spots that are cut off or much poorer than others

A random map can look fine and still trap a player behind a wall or leave them with half the resources. This entry gives your AI a map check that walks outward from every start and tells you if they connect and how close the riches are.

Two players are left, nobody can hurt the other, and the match never ends

Some matches reach a point where no one can ever change the result, yet the game waits forever. This entry gives your AI a check on who can still hurt whom, so it can end the match, or knows to keep waiting while something is still being built.

Clicking the minimap sends the camera to the wrong spot on my wide map

A minimap that works on a square map often fails the moment the world is wider than it is tall. This entry gives your AI the conversion in both directions, with the empty bands around the picture handled so clicks there do nothing odd.

After an update, players' old city saves crash the game when loaded

Every change to what a save contains leaves older saves behind. This entry gives your AI a loader that upgrades an old save one step at a time, refuses saves from a newer game instead of damaging them, and never touches the original it was handed.

The computer opponent seems to know where my hidden units are

Players notice at once when the opponent reacts to things it cannot see, and call it cheating. This entry gives your AI an audit that compares what the opponent looked at with what it was allowed to see, and lets it remember recent sightings.

My city stopped growing and I cannot tell if it is stuck or just full

A flat line on the population chart can mean two opposite things: a real bug or a healthy limit. This entry gives your AI a reader that finds every flat stretch and tells the two cases apart, so it does not chase a bug that is not there.

My stockpile shows minus 3 wood and I cannot tell who spent it

A stockpile that dips below zero is a bug, but the guilty spender is rarely the one your AI blames first. This entry gives your AI a ledger reader that replays the numbers fairly and names the exact entry that crossed the line.

Some technologies in my tree can never be researched and I cannot find why

A tech tree grown with an AI over many sessions often hides dead ends: a prerequisite that does not exist, a loop, or a branch behind one of those. This entry gives your AI a check that finds each dead tech and says which of the three it is.

I click on the broken road tile but my AI cannot tell which tile I mean

Saying the road near the river is broken sends your AI searching. This entry gives your AI a click-to-tile converter for slanted maps, so every bug report can carry exact coordinates, including clicks left of and above the map.
