Offer a loan the player can take, with payments that add up exactly

Borrowing now and paying later is a classic strategy dilemma, but the instalments often end a few coins off, and nobody tells the player when the lender will come knocking. Here is how to make the numbers close to the last coin and find the exact turn it goes wrong.

Why this works

Money in a game must add up like money in life. Rounding once and spreading the leftover coins keeps the total exact, and playing the repayments against the treasury lets the player see the trouble before agreeing, not after.

When not to use it

Too heavy for a game with a vague economy, where money is a loose score rather than counted coins. It also assumes fixed instalments. If repayment should depend on harvests or on the player's choices, show likely ranges instead of a table.
