Stop "wait five turns" from skipping straight past an ultimatum
Strategy games let players fast-forward, and a story deadline set by the story can fall right inside the jump. Here is how to make the skip stop at the right turn, give the warning the player is owed, and still let several events land in the same turn.
Why this works
A shortcut should save time, not decisions. Making a skip stop at the first moment something needs attention means the player never loses a warning or a deadline to a button they pressed in good faith.
When not to use it
Annoying if too many things stop the skip, so the player cannot get anywhere. Then separate big deadlines from small news and stop only for the big ones. A quiet game with few events does not need it.
