A vote to remove a troublemaker never ends or ends too early

Players leave while the vote is open, the accused also gets a say, and a tie leaves everyone staring at a stuck message. This entry shows how to count fairly, when a vote can already be called, and what happens at the deadline.

Why this works

A vote is a statement about the people who are here now, so the bar must be set from who is present when you count, not when the vote began. Ending it as soon as the result cannot change also spares everyone a pointless wait.

When not to use it

Skip it when you play with friends who sort things out by talking, or when one trusted person must decide, such as in a club or class server. A vote also invites abuse by a group against a newcomer, so give a moderator the final say there.
