Spielerando

Which gear level do players replace so quickly that making it was a waste?

A tier that everyone skips past in minutes still costs them materials and you design time. This entry shows how to measure how long each tier is really used, and how to count items that are still in use without guessing.

Why this works

A tier is only worth making if it is used for a while. An item still in hand after a short look says nothing yet, so only items whose fate is clear can tell you how often a stage is dropped almost at once.

When not to use it

Skip it when a quick stage is deliberate, such as a starter step that teaches a skill, or when its parts feed later items. Cutting it would hurt, so check what depends on it before you judge it a waste.
