Spielerando

Is the night really deadlier, or do players just spend more time out in it?

Counting deaths by time of day mostly shows when people play, not when the game is dangerous. This entry shows how to turn death counts into a fair risk per hour spent in each part of the day.

Why this works

A count of deaths mostly shows when people are playing, not when the game bites. Dividing by the time players actually spent awake in each part of the day turns it into the danger per hour, which can be compared fairly.

When not to use it

Skip it when players choose very different things at different times, such as hiding indoors at night and exploring by day. Then compare what they do, not just the hours, because the risk belongs to the activity.
