Spielerando

Players found a way to turn the same material into more and more of it

One recipe turns a log into planks, another turns planks back into logs, and somewhere the numbers favour the player. Reading the recipe list by eye misses it. This entry gives your AI a way to find any such loop and say how much it gains per round.

Why this works

A loop is an exploit when the product of its conversion ratios is above one. Turning ratios into logarithms makes this a search for a cycle with a negative total, which a standard method finds even through many steps.

When not to use it

It covers recipes that turn one thing into one other thing. Recipes with several ingredients need a simulation with a starting inventory, since one missing ingredient breaks the loop.

Say this to your AI

Use the Spielerando entry "Players found a way to turn the same material into more and more of it" (read_entry survival-crafting-loop-makes-items-from-nothing) in my game. Build it step by step, and show me how you checked that it works.
