Spielerando

I added a new building and now another one has the wrong cost

When data files grow over many sessions, two entries can end up with almost the same name and one silently replaces the other. This entry gives your AI a check that finds names that collide, including ones that differ only in capitals or dashes.

Why this works

Two names that look different to you may be the same key to the game, depending on how it matches them. Folding case, spaces, dashes and accents the same way people read them finds the pairs that one side will confuse.

When not to use it

Skip the lookalike rule if your game really treats a name in capitals and the same name in small letters as two things on purpose. Then only exact duplicates matter, and you should rename one anyway for the player's sake.

In the full entry

  • What to build, step by step
  • Starting values and the reason for each
  • 3 common mistakes and the fix
  • 35 lines of example code with 3 checks that pass
  • How your AI shows you that it works

Say this to your AI

Use the Spielerando entry "I added a new building and now another one has the wrong cost" (read_entry strategy-two-buildings-share-one-name) in my game. Build it step by step, and show me how you checked that it works.

Or skip this and connect the MCP: your AI then finds all of this by itself.Connect the MCP
