Spielerando

The German unit name runs out of its box and nobody sees the end of it

Long words in another language break layouts that looked fine in English. This entry gives your AI a width estimator for text that checks whether a name fits, wraps it into lines, and flags single words that can never fit and need another fix.

Why this works

Letters differ a lot in width, so counting characters misjudges both a row of narrow letters and a row of wide ones. A rough width table is enough to catch the overflow before anyone sees it, in every language you ship.

When not to use it

Skip it when you can measure text with the real font in your game engine. Use the engine's own measure, and keep this only as a stand-in for tests that run without a screen.

In the full entry

  • What to build, step by step
  • Starting values and the reason for each
  • 3 common mistakes and the fix
  • 37 lines of example code with 4 checks that pass
  • How your AI shows you that it works

Say this to your AI

Use the Spielerando entry "The German unit name runs out of its box and nobody sees the end of it" (read_entry strategy-german-unit-name-overflows-the-box) in my game. Build it step by step, and show me how you checked that it works.

Or skip this and connect the MCP: your AI then finds all of this by itself.Connect the MCP
