Let players spend points on stats with rising costs and a fixed budget
Everyone wants a hero who is excellent at one thing, so a flat price per point makes every character the same specialist. Here is how to make high values cost more, check a finished sheet exactly, and show how many points remain.
Why this works
Choices only mean something when they cost something. A price that rises for high values makes players trade strength in one place for weakness in another, and checking the finished sheet, not the running counter, means no edit or bug can slip past the budget.
When not to use it
Skip it when you want quick, forgiving creation for newcomers, or when luck is the point, as in rolled characters. Then give a ready-made set of heroes or let them roll, and keep the choices for later in the game.
