Tell where a townsperson is at any hour, including the night shift

A baker who sleeps from late evening until dawn is never in bed, because the time range goes past midnight and the check fails. Here is how to describe a day, find the place for any minute, and catch holes and overlaps in the plan before players find them.

Why this works

A day is a loop, not a line, so a stretch that begins in the evening and ends in the morning must count for both sides of midnight. Counting every minute against the plan shows at once where nobody is placed or two places claim the person.

When not to use it

Wrong when characters should react to the world instead of keeping a timetable, such as a guard who follows the player or a crowd that reacts to events. Drive them by what they notice, and keep the plan only as a default.
