Do players leave because the game loads too slowly?

Some people close a game before pressing a single key. Whether that comes from a slow start or from a boring first screen, the numbers can separate the two, but only if you also count the ones who left while it was still loading.

Why this works

Waiting and disinterest look the same from outside: someone leaves without doing anything. Telling them apart means comparing quick starts with slow ones, and counting those who left before the start finished, since they are the cost of waiting.

When not to use it

Skip it for a game that people launch from an app or install and therefore expect to wait for, or when most visits come from one very slow connection type. Then fix the biggest load first, or show something to look at while it loads.

Say this to your AI

Use the Spielerando entry "Do players leave because the game loads too slowly?" (read_entry loading-time-and-leaving-before-first-input) in my game. Build it step by step, and show me how you checked that it works.
