Spielerando

A group is refused at the door because one friend is a few levels too low

Checking the average level lets a hopeless beginner slip in beside three strong players, while checking the lowest level blocks friends who are almost there. Here is an entry rule in between, and how to tell the group exactly who is the problem.

Why this works

A door protects the weakest person inside as much as the dungeon. An average hides a hopeless member and a strict minimum shuts out near misses, so the rule has to look at each person and say exactly who is the problem.

When not to use it

Skip it when the dungeon is deadly for anyone below the mark, for instance a place with one-hit traps. There a lenient door only sends players to a quick defeat, so keep the strict minimum and offer a gentler dungeon to the group instead.
