Spielerando

A cheater sends a made-up message saying they just earned a huge reward

If the server believes whatever a player's game reports, one edited message ruins the ranking for everyone. Rejecting every big number would punish honest boss kills. Here is a simple rule that allows real bursts of progress but stops impossible speed, and a way to notice who keeps trying.

Why this works

A player's own game is the one place the player controls, so its claims can only be believed up to what is physically possible. A bucket that fills at a steady pace allows honest bursts after a quiet spell yet makes endless speed impossible.

When not to use it

Skip it when the server itself sees the fight and works out the reward, so the player never reports a number. Then there is nothing to cap, and the better fix is to stop accepting any claimed amount at all.
