Why do my later levels look easier on paper than they feel?
Average deaths per level often drop toward the end, not because the game got easier but because the players who struggled are gone. This entry shows how to compare levels using the same people so the curve tells the truth.
Why this works
Each later level is measured on a smaller, tougher crowd, since those who struggled have left. Comparing levels only on the same group of players removes that filtering and shows how hard the levels truly are in relation to each other.
When not to use it
Of little use when almost nobody drops out, or when too few players reach the end to form a group. Then the plain averages are fine; with few players, treat any curve as a hint only.
