Check that fresh goods in a shop could really have reached it in time

The inland market sells fresh fish, and a player who counts the days on the road finds it would be rotten twice over. Here is a check that follows each good from where it is made to where it is sold along the quickest road and flags the shops that cannot stock it.

Why this works

A shop's shelf is a promise about the world, and players test promises by thinking about distance. Following each good along the quickest real road turns that promise into something you can check, instead of trusting that it sounds plausible.

When not to use it

Skip it in a fantasy world where magic, ice carts or teleport gates move goods instantly, or where nobody cares about trade. There the check only raises false alarms. Write the special transport into the story instead.
