Find which story places a rising flood drowns or cuts off, and on which day
The water rises a little each day, and the village on the hill is still dry when its only road is long gone, so the quest to reach it cannot be finished. Here is how to see, for each day, which places are drowned and which are only cut off from where the player is.
Why this works
A place is only useful if the player can get there, so dry ground alone is not enough. Asking which dry ground is still connected to the player each day finds the quiet failures that looking at a place's own height misses.
When not to use it
Skip it when the player can fly, swim, use boats or build bridges, since cut off then means little. Also skip it when water falls and rises again within the day. Then judge by what the player can really use to cross.
