Spielerando

Generate a huge ruin that crosses chunk borders without seams or doubles

A world built in pieces as the player walks shows half of the great wall, and the other half is missing or appears twice with a different shape. Here is how to decide where each giant landmark stands from the map seed alone, so every piece agrees whichever one is built first.

Why this works

Pieces built at different times cannot talk to each other, so they must all work out the same answer from the same starting facts. If every landmark is decided by its region and the world's seed alone, any piece can find it without help.

When not to use it

Skip it when the world is built all at once, or when a landmark must respond to what the player did nearby. Pieces that never meet need no agreement, and a reactive landmark needs saved facts. Place those by hand or store them.
