Spielerando

How long does it really take to kill an enemy once misses and reloads are counted?

Health divided by damage times the fire rate gives a perfect-player time that nobody achieves. This entry shows how to compute the expected time for a player who misses and has to reload, so fights are tuned to what happens.

Why this works

Real fights include missed shots and pauses to reload, which a simple division ignores. Adding up every possible number of shots with its chance gives the time a player will actually need, and small magazines show the biggest difference.

When not to use it

Overkill for weapons that never miss or never reload, where simple arithmetic is enough. It also misleads if the accuracy you plug in is a hope, not a measurement from real players at that distance.
