Do controller players die more than keyboard players, or do they just play other levels?
Comparing the death rates of two input devices is misleading when each group spends its time in different places. This entry shows how to put both on the same footing so the difference you see belongs to the device and not to the levels.
Why this works
A group's overall death rate depends on which levels its people happen to play. Weighing every level the same way for both groups removes that accident, so a real difference between devices can be told apart from a difference in what they play.
When not to use it
Useless when the groups play completely different levels or have almost no data per level. Then there is nothing shared to compare, so run a small test where both groups play the same level.
