A dice check in my story can never be failed, or can never be passed
With a stat bonus and two dice, some difficulty numbers quietly become certain or impossible, and the tension of the roll is gone. This entry works out the exact chance for every check and tells you which ones are not real checks at all.
Why this works
With two dice, results are not spread evenly: the middle comes up far more often than the ends. So a chance has to be counted from the real ways to roll it, and then compared with what the weakest and the strongest player can have.
When not to use it
If the dice are only theatre and the story decides the outcome anyway, or if you use one die, a bonus system with other rules or a deck of cards, these counts do not apply. Work out the odds for the dice you actually use.
