My flashback story says A happened before B, B before C and C before A
With several storytellers, diaries and flashbacks, statements about what came first pile up, and somewhere two of them quietly contradict each other. This entry finds the circle and, when there is none, gives one order that fits everything.
Why this works
"Before" can only be true if it never leads back to where it started. A circle of before-and-after statements is a plain contradiction, so finding the circle shows for sure that something is wrong, and its statements are exactly the ones to look at.
When not to use it
A story told on purpose with a loop, such as a time loop or an unreliable narrator, wants the contradiction. Do not remove those circles; mark them as intended, and keep this check for storytellers who meant to stay in order.
