A guest in a friend's co-op story is credited with chapters they never reached
When a friend joins your story game, the chapters you finish together should count for them too. But if the guest is far behind, they would jump past the chapters in between, and if far ahead they would be dragged back. Here is how to credit them in the right order.
Why this works
A story only works if its earlier parts were seen. Moving a single marker forward one step at a time lets a guest share a friend's progress yet never land somewhere whose meaning they have missed.
When not to use it
Skip it when chapters stand on their own, like separate episodes, or when you want guests to see everything first-hand anyway. Then let them jump freely, or give the guest a short recap rather than blocking them.
