The creepy background sound clicks or dips every time it repeats

A long drone should run on and on without the player noticing where it starts again, but a hard cut makes a click and a simple blend makes the sound briefly weaker. Here is the blend that keeps the loudness steady and when the next copy has to start.

Why this works

The ear hears loudness, not volume knobs. Two different sounds blended on a straight line add up to less energy in the middle, so the sound sags. Fading by a curve that keeps their combined strength constant hides the seam.

When not to use it

Do not blend a sound with a strong beat or clear rhythm: the overlap doubles the beat and sounds sloppy. Cut such a loop cleanly at a beat instead, or record it so its end already flows into its start.
