Strong wind on a mountain should push jumps sideways, but not forever
Wind makes an open world feel alive, but the easy way to add it sends a leaping character faster and faster until a fall from a peak crosses the whole map. Here is a push that has a natural limit, how shelter changes it, and the exact drift for a given jump.
Why this works
Real wind drags things toward its own speed and cannot push them past it. Treating the push as a pull toward the wind's speed gives a natural ceiling by itself, so no extra cap is needed, and shelter simply weakens the pull.
When not to use it
Do not use it for a sudden blast that should throw the player, such as an explosion or a storm gust. That needs a one-time shove with its own strength, not a gentle pull toward a steady speed.
