Hammering the jump key to break free of a trap or a snare

Being caught in a snare and wriggling free by mashing a key is a classic survival moment. Make the meter too forgiving and a held key or an auto-clicker frees you at once, too strict and nobody escapes. Here is a meter that rewards honest mashing, drains when you stop, and ignores machine-gun input.

Why this works

The effort a person can really give is a rhythm of taps, not a single push. A bar that fills per tap and drains with time asks for a steady pace, and ignoring taps that are too quick shuts out a held key or a machine without punishing real fingers.

When not to use it

Avoid it when players cannot tap fast or often, for example with a motor impairment or on a slow touch screen. Offer a hold-to-struggle option or a longer timer so that everyone can get free.
