Separate players who stop at a chapter's end from players who really gave up

Not everyone who closes a story game was driven away. Many simply finish a chapter and go to bed. Counting them as lost makes every chapter end look like a disaster. This entry shows how to split the two kinds of stopping so you only worry about the real losses.

Why this works

Stopping at the end of a chapter is a decision to rest, while leaving in the middle is a loss. Placing each quit inside its chapter separates the two, so the work goes where players were pulled out.

When not to use it

Wrong for very short chapters, games without chapters, or endings that cliffhang on purpose to bring people back: an end quit can be a problem there. Check who actually returns to play the next part.
