A story variable is empty on some routes but fine on others
A line that mentions the lamp you picked up works for most players and shows a blank or crashes for a few. The reason is a route that skips the place where the lamp is set. This entry finds such reads by looking at every route at once.
Why this works
A gap only matters if one single route can reach the line without passing the place that fills it. Asking what is certainly known at each scene, whatever way the player came, covers all routes at once instead of the few you happen to play.
When not to use it
It cannot see a value that is filled in by something outside the story pages, or a route that is blocked by a condition it does not know. For those, play the route by hand, or give every value a starting value at the very beginning.
