My AI keeps trying the same fixes again and again without getting anywhere
After a few rounds some AIs undo their own change and then make it again, and each round burns your time and budget. This entry gives a small watcher that notices a return to an earlier state or a long stretch without progress, and says when to stop.
Why this works
Being busy is not the same as getting closer. Writing down after every try what the files look like and how many checks still fail makes two kinds of going nowhere visible: coming back to an earlier state, and trying new things that never improve.
When not to use it
Do not use it for a task that is slow by nature, where progress is real but only shows in the last step. Then the failures stay flat while the work moves. Judge such a task by milestones you set beforehand.
In the full entry
- What to build, step by step
- Starting values and the reason for each
- 3 common mistakes and the fix
- 20 lines of example code with 3 checks that pass
- How your AI shows you that it works
