My level has mostly thumbs up, but only those who finished can vote
If the vote button appears after a win, every vote comes from someone the level did not defeat. This entry shows how to put the vote back into context of everyone who started, and one pattern that tells a loved level from a level that lost its critics.
Why this works
If only winners can vote, the votes describe the people the level did not beat. The harder the level, the happier the survivors, so the thumbs have to be read against everyone who began, including those who left without a word.
When not to use it
Do not use it when a level is hard on purpose and its fans know it, such as an optional challenge for experts, where a small, devoted group is the aim. There, count how many chose it and finished, not how many left.
