My daily puzzle is solved faster later in the day: is the answer leaking?
When everyone gets the same puzzle, the answer travels. This entry shows how to look at solve times by how long the puzzle has been out, how to tell a leak from simply different players arriving later, and when to treat the day's numbers as spoiled.
Why this works
Players who arrive later are usually no quicker than the early keen ones, so a clear drop in solving time over the day points to shared answers, not to better players. The middle value ignores the few who left the puzzle open.
When not to use it
It cannot tell a leak from a fair reason for a drop, such as a hint released at noon or a puzzle that was solved together by a group. If sharing the answer is part of your game's fun, do not fight it.
